38% of Nepalese society are aged under 14 and there is a shortage of skills in the country combined with high unemployment rates, more than 2 million youth are totally unemployed according to studies. Nearly 49.9% of urban youth and 32.2% of rural youth are unemployed. In 2009, more than 2 million youth above the age of 15 were completely unemployed which is a 42% increase on figures in 2008.

At Our Sansar we aim to provide skills training to a variety of communities with our focus on street children and children/young people from less privileged backgrounds.
Eco-Friendly Projects
Our partner organisation, TNW Nepal, works on a number of eco-friendly projects and they try to address a number of issues in Nepal with a focus on empowering young people and making a sustainable difference to their lives. We are looking for volunteer entrepreneurs for their current Youth Empowerment Project, aimed at educating young people in Nepal particularly interested in environmental issues. We welcome entrepreneurs from a wide range of sectors as these might make a big difference to communities in Nepal.
Examples of volunteering positions include but are not limited to; promotion of sustainable agriculture, organic farming, natural resources management training, eco-tourism training, business start-up training, raising awareness and developing infrastructures relating to water and sanitation.
Skills Training and Mentoring
We are also looking for skills trainers for the children in our partner children homes and rehabilitation centres. These will be varied depending on the area and amount of time the volunteer can dedicate to the training. Quite often this will include spending a bit of time with children, recognising their individual interests and pointing them in the right direction. Please get in touch to discuss further dependant on the skills you’d like to share.
Locations: Kathmandu, Hetauda, Chitwan
Trainers are encouraged to fundraise money to cover the cost of their placement. The cost will vary depending on the length of time but on it will generally start at £650 for a 5 week placement in Chitwan or Hetauda and will be up to £1500 for a 12 week placement in Kathmandu.
