MEDICAL STAFF
Nepal is the poorest country in Asia and medical services over there are lacking basic equipment, qualified staff and facilities.
In partnership with a number of local organisations Our Sansar would like to send qualified nurses, doctors and dentists to various places in Nepal to assist with medical help.
The areas these organisations need help urgently with are:
General health check up
Dressing old wounds and prescribing medicines
First Aid
TB checks
Giving deworming medicines
Dental Checkups
Referring to a local hospital for medical cases if needed
SathSath
In particular at the moment we need assistance for the children that are being helped by SathSath, a local NGO working with street children. SathSath run a number of rehabilitation programmes for street children and many members of the organisation are former street children themselves, this way they understand the needs of the children better. Something that they need most is medical help.
Locations:
1) SathSath office at Baneshwor
2) Learning centre at Dallu (Kalimati and Basantapur area)
3) Field visits (outreach medical services) to the street children. (Pasupati, Tudhikel, Balaju)
Chhahari
Another priority project for Our Sansar is assisting children at Chhahari – an orphanage in Kathmandu where they lack basic
resources. Because of the lack of facilities, vaccinations and other resources, the children in their home get ill frequently.
To promote more affordable healthcare for the children in Nepal they have set up Health Action Nepal www.healthactionnepal.org.np
Location: Kathmandu and surroundings
The volunteers are encouraged to fundraise money to cover the cost of their placement. The cost will vary depending on the length of time but it will generally start at £790 for a 5 week placement and will be up to £1500 for a 12 week placement.
