TEACHER TRAINERS

One of the major problems within the educational system in Nepal and particularly in the rural parts is lack of motivation and qualifications amongst the teachers. The salaries are very low and frequently the teachers do not hold university degrees and do not have the motivation to expand their skills. The lessons themselves tend to lack any interaction between the teacher and the students. After long consultations with the schools themselves, at Our Sansar we have prepared a curriculum that fills in the gaps in the Nepalese curriculum. One of the major areas that the schools asked us for assistance in is teacher training.

We are looking for experienced teachers/trainers who could provide intensive training to the Nepalese teachers. Depending on the area and the school, some parts of the training will include English language training as well.

The length of the training is flexible and depending on the needs of particular schools we can choose the most appropriate placement accordingly to the trainer’s availability.

Short teacher placements are also available with our local partner schools. During a few weeks/month placement the teachers will work with the students on short projects that are beneficial to their local community and introduce interactive English classes.

The trainers are encouraged to fundraise money to cover the cost of their placement. The cost will vary depending on the length of time but it will generally start at £650 for a 5 week placement in Chitwan or Hetauda and will be up to £1500 for a 12 week placement in Kathmandu.
