In 2013 Our Sansar opened a children’s home for street children in Birgunj, south of Nepal where there are over 150 children living on the streets
We aim to provide the essential shelter, welfare and education that these children urgently need. So far we have welcomed 19 children into our home – they are now able to enjoy a healthy diet and attend school with a safe and secure roof over their heads. This programme is currently the only one of it’s kind in this area of Nepal, making the work of Our Sansar absolutely crucial in helping the many street children.
Thanks to all of our wonderful supporters, the boys are settled in, excelling at school, and even enjoying their…..swimming pool! Plus guitar, dance and IT classes. We have buffaloes providing nutritious milk and chickens to provide eggs are on their way. The Our Sansar family was also joined by Chimpy and Sharo, two super friendly guard dogs, and Rosy, the tiniest kitten imagineable.
- Re-uniting children with their close or extended families wherever possible.
- Providing the children with shelter, food and education, including skills training so that they can live independent lives in the future.
- Rehabilitation of any children addicted to drugs.
- Providing counselling. Through links with local organisations we will provide trained staff including psychologists and social workers to ensure the children get the support they need.
Our Sansar needs approximately £90,000 to run a permanent Children’s home for 5 years.
