Mamina Khatun – Teacher, End to Child Labour Project

I was born and raised in Rautahat. Since 2022 I have been working as a teacher to children that had previously been involved in child labour. It’s been a challenging but fulfilling experience to help these children transition from working in brick factories to a normal childhood and school life. Growing up in a community where child labour is prevalent, I witnessed firsthand the struggle these children face. I knew I had to do something to help them, and that’s what led me to become a teacher for these children.

My work involves not only teaching them the necessary academic skills but also helping them adapt to school life and overcome the trauma of their past experiences. I make sure to create a safe and supportive environment for these children where they can learn and grow without any discrimination. We at Our Sansar work together to provide support and resources to these children and their families to help them escape the cycle of poverty and child labour.
