We’ve all heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but have you heard of Giving Tuesday?
The idea started in the USA in 2012 and has since become a worldwide phenomenon, being adapted to over 60 countries! The idea behind Giving Tuesday is that after a weekend of shopping (with Black Friday and Cyber Monday often lasting a few days) we have a day to celebrate and encourage giving in all its forms – supporting and giving back to causes that mean so much to all of us. This doesn’t always have to be money, if you can donate then that’s great! But it’s also so helpful to give your time or skills, share a post with your followers, or organise an event to help your cause.
This year Giving Tuesday falls on 1st of December and Global Giving are running a $1 million incentive fund. This means that every £1 that you donate to Our Sansar contributes to us receiving a share of that $1 million!
We know that 2020 has been hard for so many, across all industries so this is a chance for us to do something positive, and help those who need it most. Charities have been hit extremely hard by the Coronavirus pandemic; with charity shops closed and fundraising events cancelled there is a huge (and ever increasing) fundraising gap.
At Our Sansar, we’re hoping to raise £1,000 this Giving Tuesday and we need your help! Every penny that you donate will help street kids in Nepal. We’re totally volunteer-led which means 100% of your donation goes to Nepal to make a difference where it’s needed most. If you make your donation between 5am GMT on December 1st and 4.59am GMT on December 2nd (all day on December 1st ET) we’ll also be entitled to a share of the $1 million incentive fund from Global Giving, which will also head straight out to Nepal.
All you need to do is follow this link to our Global Giving page and donate whatever you can to support street kids in Nepal. We appreciate that not everyone can donate, but if you can share our story and posts with your friends and family, and encourage others to donate or do the same that would be a huge help for us to spread the word, and reach our goal of £1000!
